Two Sisters One Heart

Two Sisters-One Heart

This morning Zander and I went to the Two Sisters One Heart Fundraiser to support the Bailey family who are in our ward. My friend from work, Melanie, came out and ran the 5k. Zander and I cheered her on as she crossed the finish line. Kylie and Tristen volunteered at the race registration booth. Devin's mom DeeDee and some ladies from her ward sang the National Anthem. We enjoyed the pancake breakfast and tried to keep warm.  It was great to see everyone who volunteered and came out in memory of Taylor and Emma.

Happy Anniversary

4 years ago today we were sealed for time and all eternity in the temple.

Happy Anniversary babe! I love you more and more every day.

Gotta love Devin and his crazy ideas. This is what happened after I asked him to give Zander a bath.

This is what Zanders been doing lately. He likes to pull himself up on whatever is around him - the ottoman, chair, beanbag, bathtub, toys, us. He has mastered crawling so I think walking is just around the corner.

Weekend Getaway

Devin and I decided to getaway for the weekend to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary coming up this week. We went to Flagstaff and went snowboarding at Snowbowl Ski Resort. Devin really enjoyed himself. He gets better at snowboarding every time he goes. I sort of enjoyed myself. I crashed getting off the lift every time (which I am sure was a hilarious sight to watch), had a couple bad falls and ended up with a bruise on my bottom, and got a horrible sunburn on my face. Despite all my bruises and pain, I had a great day because we spent it together.

After snowboarding, we checked into our hotel and went out on the town. We ate dinner at Beaver Street Brewery. They were voted #1 place to eat in Flagstaff. The food was amazing and it was the cutest restaurant. Since I went to college in Flagstaff, I took Devin on a little tour of the downtown area and up to Lowell Observatory. I love Flagstaff! I would move back there in a second.
To finish our weekend, we took a drive through Sedona and Cottonwood and explored the town of Jerome. Jerome sits above what was the largest copper mine in Arizona and produced an astonishing 3 million pounds of copper per month. Men and women from all over the world made their way to Arizona to find work and maybe a new way of life. Today the mines are silent, and Jerome has become the largest ghost town in America.

We had a great time celebrating our anniversary.  It was the first time we left Zander overnight, so we were ready to get back home to our baby.

8 Months Old

Weighs approx 16 lbs * Thinks everything is funny. When I brush my teeth in front of him, when I sing him songs, when I dance, when I cook. He is seriously the happiest baby! * Has started lifted his hands up when we go to pick him up. * Has been dubbed "Naners" by his cousins. * Wants to eat everything we eat and gets mad when we give him real food and then try to give him baby food afterwards. * Loves electronics just like his daddy. Loves the tv remote, game controllers, cell phones, computer, and the camera.* Crawling all over the house. * Saying "dada" although he doesn't know what it means. Devin is excited though. *

My First Week

I started my new job on January 31 and I love it! I am an account manager working with a book of 70+ accounts that spend between $1000-5000 per month. It is my job to maintain these clients, try to grow them past $5000 per month, and to optimize their retargeting campaigns so they are seeing the maximum return on investment.
This company is absolutely wonderful! I've never been at a job where people love what they do and like to come to work everyday. I have heard multiple times that this is the best job that they have ever had and I can definitely see why. The culture is so different from my last job. Employees are appreciated and motivated to do their best work. Everyone works hard, but we play and have fun too. In my first week, we had a big ice cream social to celebrate birthdays. Someone brought their dog into work (which is a normal thing). There are dog beds and dog bowls at the front of the office. I've seen many nerf gun fights and was the target of a nerf bullet. I played three truths and two lies in our company meeting. No one believed I had a tattoo (a lie) or that could play the drums on expert on Rockband (a truth). I went to lunch with the VP of Advertising and discussed a career path with the company.
I have learned so much in this last week and I am so excited to continue learning and get into my position.

Cisco Certification

For the past month and a half, Devin has been studying for the Cisco Network certification test. You can take one hard test or break the test into two parts. Just like the other certifications, if you don't pass it the first time you have to pay to retake it. Most people take prep classes which are available for around $2,000. Devin studied all by himself. He is trying to convince me that since he saved us the money by not taking the prep classes, he should be able to get a new tv. I don't think so.
Devin took the first part of the test last Wednesday and got a 899 out of 1000. He passed! In a few weeks he will take the 2nd part of the Cisco test. I am so proud of all his hard work. On top of taking a full schedule of classes, working, and taking care of us, he has been studying for these certifications at the same time. I know he'll find a great job in the field he loves very soon.
