Zander's 1st Birthday Party

We celebrated Zander's 1st birthday with a big party. Zander has so many family and friends who love him and came today. He is one lucky boy!

Mimi and Papa; Grandma and Grandpa Wasilewski; Aunty Kylie and Uncle Stevan and cousins Ashlen, Tristen, and Clayton; Great Grandpa Reed; Aunty Megan and Uncle Eddie and cousins Jayden and Tage; Aunty Kaylee; Great Aunt Eunice; Aunty Aimee; the Merinos; the Kietas; the Lees; and the Clawsons.

We ate a yummy lunch with sub sandwiches, chips, watermelon, deviled eggs, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese. Zander was so tired and fell asleep after lunch, but since we knew our guests wouldn't want to wait a few hours for the rest of the party to continue, we woke him up for his grand entrance. Devin wheeled him into the living room in his hippo while we played Justin Bieber's "Baby" and had sparklers lit up. It was hilarious and it woke him up. I helped Zander open his gifts and I am probably more excited then he is to play with everything. We sang Happy Birthday and gave Zander his own cake to eat. It was so funny watching him touch the cake. Even though it tasted good and he liked eating it when we put it into his mouth, he didn't want to touch the cake himself.
What a fun party! Thanks to everyone who came.

The joys of turning 1 when a balloon and seeing the fish at Walmart are all you need for a Happy Birthday.

Picnic at the Lake

We went to Canyon Lake for an afternoon picnic with the Merinos and Kietas, but we weren't quite prepared for how many people had the same exact idea. I guess that is what happens on a holiday weekend. Even though there were a ton of people, we were able to find a nice spot in the shade close to the water.
After we ate dinner, the guys played with the frisbee and threw around the football in the lake. The girls sat on shore with the babies and chatted. Grandma Wasilewski went in the water with Zander and was surprised at how fast he kicked his legs and how he wanted to go further out. We will have to get him in swim lessons next summer.
It was a great afternoon and we will have to do it more often.

Last weekend Devin's cousins - Jarron, Olivia, and Tyler - were in town for another cousin's wedding. I took the day off Friday so we could all spend time together. We headed to Scottsdale to eat lunch, do some shopping, and see the new Pirates of the Carribbean at the IPic theatre. It is a luxurious theatre with plush leather seats and gourmet food which is brought to you during the movie. It was expensive as you can imagine, but it was fun to experience it at least once.
On Saturday before the wedding, we checked out the Queen Creek Olive Mill. We have lived in Queen Creek for 4 years, but have never made it over there. We sat outside amongst the olive trees and listened to live jazz music. We would have eaten lunch there, but Jarron is allergic to gluten and he couldn't eat anything on the menu. Poor guy! I take for granted the fact that I can eat anything and go anywhere I want to eat.
Brandon & Megan's wedding was beautiful. We were all inside the temple for the sealing ceremony which happened to be the same time that the world was suposed to end. While we obviously knew the world wasn't going to end, we thought the temple was the best place we could all be if it were true. The reception was held at Megan's brother's house and the food and decor were amazing. I love weddings! I wish I could relive my special day all over again. At the reception, Devin had another classic Devin moment. He clogged the only toliet for guests and had to call Jarron to find a plunger. Only my husband!
We had a fun weekend with the cousins and can't wait until we can all get together again. We definitely need to make plans for our cousins cruise 2012.
