Girls Trip 2013

We are too much a like! Love the unintentional matching swim cover ups.

I love these girls! Even though we don't live down the street from each other anymore, we will always have a strong friendship. Our girls trip this year took us to Vegas again. The perfect in the middle spot for us all. Since Kassidy is getting married in a few weeks, we called this her unofficial bachelorette party. The weekends expectations included good food, tanning, pedicures, movies, and a show. We accomplished all of our wish list items!
We stayed at the Hilton Grande Resort which is right next to Planet Hollywood in the middle of the strip. It was the perfect location and great walking distance to everything. On Friday night, we grabbed dinner and went to the movies to see The Wolverine. It was my first non-kid, animated movie in 2013. A bit sad. On Saturday, we tanned, got pedicures, and saw the Cirque-du-Soleil show Zarkana. We finished the night playing truth-or-dare and toasting with Martinellis.
Excited to see what this year has in store for all of us and to meet again next summer.

Team Guaca-BOWL-e

Another fun team outing at work. We were assigned teams and had to come up with a name and costume for the bowling event. At first we were the Lucky Strikes, hence the green attire. We didn't find out until the day of the event that the name was already taken. Green shirts and no name, we quickly renamed ourselves Team Guaca-BOWL-e. We pulled out the big guns and beat everyone too!

San Diego

Their best lion roar

We started out without any weekend plans, but that quickly changed when we stopped by Devin's parent's house Friday night. His mom had been out of town so we stopped by to say hello. They were heading to San Diego for a weekend with his sister Kaylee and her boyfriend Ean. Devin's dad was scheduled for knee surgery in the upcoming week and decided on a trip before he is cooped up in the house recovering. They invited us to go and then invited his other sister and family. We quickly packed our bags and then we all headed out. The trip was spontaneous. No hotel reservations. No agenda. We spent Saturday at La Jolla Beach and Sunday at the San Diego Zoo.

NKTOB

I've loved NKOTB since I was little. I wasn't a teenager in the late 80/early 90s, but my older sister Nicole loved them so I knew all their music. I heard they were going on tour, but didn't want to spend money on tickets. A week before the show, their tickets were a part of a daily deal site and I knew I had to go. I rallied some friends at work to go with me and we made a girls night of it with dinner. The show was amazing beyond words! BoyzIIMen and 98Degrees opened up the show. Then NKTOB came out and performed for about 2 hours. Those old guys still got it! I sang to all the songs loud and proud.

Breakfast with my boys at Kneaders

Note to self
Trying new things is always good, but you do not look good in straight across bangs.
Keep this in your memory when you try them in the future.
You hated them.

Saturday, July 6, 2013

Instead of gifts for birthdays and holidays, we started planning date nights with Devin's parents. I'd rather create a fun memory over giving clothes or gift that someone doesn't like. For Father's Day and Dad's birthday, we planned dinner and a show. We took them to Grimaldi's Pizzeria and to Jesterz which is an improv comedy show. They hadn't been to either place so it was a treat!

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July with the family watching Zander's favorite minions get into mischief again. He was quoting the entire movie since he's seen the movie trailers over and over.
We ended the night with fireworks at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler.
