Quality Time with Dad

Our Weekend of Fun

Devin and some of his friends went camping on Friday and Saturday. It was quite the trip and I wish I had some pictures. Devin, Jason, Geoff, and Eddie crammed into the Vibe and headed to Payson for a little male bonding time and airsoft playing. Devin forgot a blanket and sleeping bag and ended up freezing his butt off in the tent. After an hour, he decided to sleep in the car. For breakfast, the boys were excited for pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The cook decided to add maple syrup to the bacon and it was disgusting. After waiting so long for the pancakes and bacon, the boys decided to forgo eating the eggs and instead threw them at the trees. They joked that they should have invited us girls as we would have packed the camping essentials (like a sleeping bag!) and cook for them. Now that the boys had their weekend of fun, I think us girls need to plan our weekend retreat.

While Devin was gone, I got to spend some time with Zander and Alice. At first I was a bit afraid to take care of two babies, but it ended up being ok. Both babies went to bed early and slept through most of the night. This is how I looked most of the time with Alice at my side and Zander on my legs. I think the babies enjoyed their first sleepover.

Date Night

One perk of my job is that we can get free tickets to sporting events and concerts. I guess no one wanted to see American Idol Live since they looking for people to host the suite. I will admit this year wasn't as exciting as past seasons, but I did watch the show and know the AI gang - Big Mike, Casey, Crystal, Lee. At first I thought we could bring the baby. I was thinking that we'd be in the suite so we wouldn't be around a ton of people and if he cried we could sit in the lounge area with him. Plus after being away from him all day, I am always so excited and in a rush to get home and see him. In the end, we decided to leave him at home. Good thing we didn't take him because poor Zander would be deaf! He'll have to wait a bit longer for his first concert experience.  

It was our 2nd date night alone since having the baby and we had a lot of fun. We ate dinner at La Canasta, a restaurant that we've been talking about going to for a long time but it's too far from our house so we never do. It was alright, but not fabulous. It did give Devin bad heartburn and a trip to the restroom during the concert. When we were leaving the restaurant, Devin had something stuck in his pant leg and magically pulled out a pair of my underwear! I guess he grabbed his jeans out of the hamper. Kinda gross but we thought it was hilarious!  

We really enjoyed the concert and got to hang out with my coworker Patrina and her husband Oscar in the suite. It was hard for Devin to contain his excitement about the show as he was hooting and hollering after every performance. After Didi performed, it was dead silent and he shouted out "I love you Didi". We all laughed at him and then laughed even harder when she responded "I love you too". The concert started with Didi and counted down from the top 10 contestants down to Lee. There were also some medleys thrown in the mix and as we all know, it's not American Idol without some cheesy medleys.  

All in all, it was nice to have a night out together. We need to start doing date nights more often!

Mr. Mom

Since I started back at work this week, Devin has gotten to spend quality alone time with Zander. He feeds and snuggles with him while I am getting ready for work. He also dresses and gets him ready before he has to go to work. When I get home, Devin and Zander are always waiting for me. I love seeing Devin as a dad. He is a real softy and I know I'll end up being the mean mom who has to discipline our kids.

Today when I got home from work, Devin started telling me about his day. Zander spit up and was crying, so he decided to take a shower with him. I guess Zander loved it and calmed down immediately! Zander also peed on our bed and then later peed on his own clothes. The peeing happened when Devin was trying to change his diaper and he was naked. He needs to start using the pee pee teepee we got from Debbie.

Then Devin wanted to show me the cute outfit Zander was in after these peeing episodes. I looked at this shirt and thought to myself that I never knew the shirt had buttons on it. I quickly remembered the buttons were on the back of the shirt. Devin put it on the wrong way! There was even a tag on the back of the shirt, which was now in the front. Devin said he saw the tag, but didn't know how babies clothes worked. Too funny! I appreciate his effort in taking care of our son and got a good laugh out of it too. I'll have to post more Mr. Mom moments since I know there will be many. Love you babe!

Happy Birthday Babe

Happy Birthday to the love of my life Devin! I'm glad you came into the world 26 years ago. I can't imagine life without you!

Zander's Blessing Day

Today was a wonderful day! Zander was given a name and a blessing at church. Devin was so nervous, but did a great job on the blessing. Zander slept through the whole thing. We had so many family and friends there to celebrate the special day with us.
