Two Years + 10 Months

* He is such a good helper. He'll throw things away for me, pick up his toys, and even grab things from the other room. I can't wait to get vacuuming and dusting help soon. *  We've been trying to steer him away from Nightmare Before Christmas. It's not that we don't love this movie, but I'm just tired of watching it over and over. So far he's taken to James and the Giant Peach, Toy Story, Wreck-it-Ralph, and The Lion King. *  We finally cut off his hair. It took about two months, but his hair was so long and shaggy back in January. I first got it trimmed and it looked like he had a bowl cut. I got it fixed and it looked like he had a helmet. A few weeks after, he went with Devin and got it cut short. It took some bribing to get him to sit in the chair, but it looks really cute now. I'm not sure why I feel so attached to his hair. * Hates bathes these days. It's always a production getting him into the bath at night. When he's actually inside it, he's fine though. * We noticed that he has a slight stutter when he talks. It comes out with certain words. I'm not terribly worried considering Devin has a stutter (although you wouldn't know it now) and went through speech therapy to help correct it. It's too early to tell if it's really an issue. * Got to spend a week with Mimi while his sitter enjoyed two weeks off with her new baby. Mimi attempted potty training, but Zander's not ready. There were new undies bought, a few accidents, and lots of time sitting and talking about the potty. His response after an accident, "let's just do the diaper." *  Thinks my phone is his and will ask me for his phone. * Loves eskimo kisses and started touching other body parts together. We'll touch our ears, our eyes, elbows, etc after eskimo kisses. *
Creepiest Easter bunny ever. Zander is trying to escape.
With Mimi and cousins Tage & Chanson
We got to do a redo on our Easter Egg Hunt. Last Saturday we arrived at our ward's Easter Egg Hunt a bit late and missed out hunting for eggs. Zander found one and was perfectly content with his one piece of candy. This mama was bummed because I wanted to capture the experience. Thank heavens for in laws who had their Easter celebration on a different weekend. Zander loved searching for eggs. I think he's a bit obsessed with Easter eggs now. He'll watch YouTube videos with people opening up eggs with prizes in it. I don't know what's worse. The fact that someone makes videos of someone opening up eggs or Zander actually interested in watching it. My strange child.

Mom & Zander Day

Today was Mom & Zander day. We woke up early and went to our Ward Easter Egg Hunt. I went to the wrong park so we showed up 10 minutes late and all the eggs were practically gone. Zander found two and was overjoyed with the two pieces of candy inside of them.
Our next stop was the mall. We walked around, looked at the puppies at the pet store, and played in the play area before we headed to the movies. We saw The Croods and Zander loved it! He's been quoting the movie ever since. Our last stop was his favorite food place Moo Cow (aka Chick-fil-a).
I loved the day with my little man and definitely plan on having regular dates together.

Muse Concert

Devin and I love music and attending concerts. Back when we were first married, Devin came home with tickets to see Muse. I had no idea who they were. We saw them at Mesa Amphitheater and they were amazing! They quickly won me over as a fan even though I had never heard their songs before.  Six years later Muse still puts on an entertaining show.

Batman

Zander got a new bed. Hopefully it means that he'll actually start sleeping and playing in his room.

We went to the pool for the first time this year. It was hot today. So hot that I was sweating and dreaming about the pool. Zander and I walked down to the pool to test out the waters. It was a bit cold, but not too terrible. With the beach front pool entrance and jets, we were able to enjoy the cool water without getting all the way in

Yo Gabba Gabba Live

Mimi and Papa got Zander Yo Gabba Gabba Live tickets for Christmas.  Back then he was completely obsessed with the show. These days he loves The Nightmare Before Christmas, but now and then he'll mention Gabba and play with his toys. When we went to the show, Zander was shy for some reason. He didn't want to get up to dance or sing. He just wanted to sit in our laps. I caught a few smiles and he'd pointpointing to characters. With a little help of popcorn and soda, he came alive during the break and was his usual self full of dancing and singing. As soon as the characters came back on, he was quiet. Maybe he was star struck?

Weekend at the Cabin

Devin's systems team won the CEO award in January. Last year the winner's got to drive around in the company car. This year the winners get to enjoy a weekend at the company cabin. We were the first group to enjoy the cabin and it was amazing! To call it a cabin definitely gives you the wrong idea. It's more like a lodge with 6 bedrooms (including 2 master bedrooms).
We headed up to Payson on Thursday night. The ironic part is that I was dying from the heat and wore shorts up there. Little did we know that the storm that was heading our way was as big as it was. The snow fell all day on Friday and Saturday morning until we left. I was planning on working remotely, but we lost power on Friday morning. Good thing I was surrounded by IT guys. I was able to get online and work a few hours before my laptop battery died. The movie marathon plan for the day was derailed when we were without power for 9 hours. We kept busy playing games, indulging in snacks, and playing in the snow. It was a bit disappointing to learn that the power was not expected to come back on at all on Friday and the roads were closed. There were a few couples planning on heading back home on Friday.  We sat around the fire place telling stories about first dates and how we met our spouses. The sun had gone down and it quickly was getting dark when the power came back on.  It was the best news ever!
With the storm still raging on, we decided to pack up and try leave early on Saturday. We had to call someone to plow the driveway as we couldn't get any of the cars out. One of the cars even got stuck as they tried to get out of the neighborhood. It was a bit scary on the drive home, but we all made it home safely. It's crazy to think that we experienced this extreme weather while we were only two hours from home.
